Aktive Studenters Forening

Aktive Studenters Forening is one of Bergens biggest concert organizer constituated by students. As a driftsorganisasjon at Kvarteret, ASFs volunteers internal benefits as volunteers at Studentkulturhuset.

ASF is Bergens second oldest public students organizations, founded at the 22nd of August 1940 during a "allmannamøte" at what today is the geophysical institute, while the University of Bergen was still called Museum of Bergen. ASF had from the start 2 purposes: The first was to be a students union i the right sense of the word, in opposition to Studentersamfunnet, who ASF thought to be dominated by older academics that often made fun of regular students when they attempted to participate in debates. The second was to give students a non-study pastime offer.  

The union has changed their areas of focus through the years. often mirrorring the development of society at large, og from time to time out of more random reasons. From being a union that mainly invited to debates, lectures and dancing in Klubben, and an interlude as the biggest students union at Hulen (which lasted 27 years), to primarily being facilitator of concerts. ASF facilitates concerts and other events at Kvarteret every friday. ASF has four booking concepts:

ASF: All larger concerts. These concert are primarily held at Teglverket at Kvarteret. However, numerous larger concerts have also been held at USF Verftet.
StåOppJazz: Concerts in Storelogen at Kvarteret during every Helhus organized by ASF. Primarily jazz.
ASF SUB: Concerts in Speilsalen at Kvarteret during every Helhus organized by ASF. Only reliable hardcore-stage in Bergen, although all genres can appear.
ASF Klubb: The club concept at every Helhus organized by ASF. Primarily in Teglverket around midnight and later.
