Mannskoret Arme Riddere

Mannskoret Arme Riddere (MAR) is the official mens choir at the University of Bergen, and a brukerorganisasjon at Kvarteret.

The choir consists of about 20 sing-happy who, as best they can, tries to live by the choirs statute of purpose: "To charm and astonish with our endearing men's voices and devour our ale in jubilant camaraderie". Our repertoir spans from classical national romanticism, through self-writen songs of laughter, to well-known cover-songs. Arme Riddere is a visible part of the city image and the students culture in Bergen and has previously performed at "Norway's got talent" and during the World Championship in cycling. In addition to our yearly spring- and christmas concerts, as well as the concert on the university steps on the 17th of May, MAR is performing every semester at several smaller regular concerts and events, not only at Kvarteret.

Mannskoret Arme Riddere is more than just a choir: we are a group of friends! We party, sing, and go on trips together. Anyone can attend auditions, with no expectation of previous musical experience. Mannskoret Arme Riddere has eventually stabilized at a musical level which is considerably above the "shower level", but there is no prerequisite that you must have previous experience in singing or choir. A good voice and enthusiasm could be enough to qualify for an offer of membership after the round of audition.

Arme Riddere usually has their auditions at the beginning of every semester. To become a member of Mannskoret Arme Riddere, you have to be a student at one of the institutions for higher education in Bergen.
