The hospitality group (Skjenke) are the chefs, waiters and bartenders of Kvarteret. Naturally, these people run our regular bars, as well as the kitchen.
This is the largest working group at Kvarteret and therefore a place where you can get to know many new people both at work and through the various social events.
You do not need any prior knowledge to succeed in Skjenke - even in the kitchen you get all the training you need! The bar group has four subgroups that you can read about below.
TIME ESTIMATE: In Skjenke, you work 1 shift a week in most subgroups. The shifts are distributed between 10.00 - 01.00 on weekdays and until 04.00 on weekends. The exception is the cocktailbar Halvtimen which is only open on weekends. Here, you work 3 shifts a month. Regardless of the subgroup, you choose when you can work. If you are interested in joining one of Skjenke's subgroups, you simply start with an informal try shift.
The kitchen is next door to Stjernesalen, and volunteers in these groups work closely. The kitchen staff group internally also a smaller and very close-knit gang. Here, you learn new recipes and you can unfold yourself with delicious baking art! It is also possible to aquire some barista skills.
This is our café where delicious food, coffee and cakes are served. As part of the staff at Stjernesalen, you learn a thing or two about both barista art, mocktail recipes and wine selection.
This is Kvarterets pub that has a large assortment and is well suited for the beer nerd who is not afraid of a little pace. This is also the bar where most volunteers hang out, perfect for sitting down with other people after the end of your shift.
In our cocktail bar Halvtimen, you must be 20 years of age to volunteer. This is Kvarterets own drink bar, and thus suitable for the cocktail enthusiast. Here you get to try yourself as the type of bartender who dishes up nice colors and delicious flavors for the guests.
