Studentkoret Blandede Akademikere
Studentkoret Blandede Akademikere (BLAK) is the official mixed choir at the Unversity of Bergen, as well as a brukerorganisasjon at Det Akademiske Kvarter.
BLAK Consists of about 40 sing-happy students from all institutions for higher education in Bergen. The choir has a mixed repertoir; everything from classical to pop, through traditional drinking songs and folk music from various nations. BLAK maintains a strong tradition of self-arranged music and self-written song lyrics. The choir usually organizes two larger concerts at the end of each semester, but is also performing regularly on different sutdents events, as well as gigs for private actors.
BLAKs history starts as early as 1991, which makes it the oldest official students choir at the University of Bergen. At that time, the choir consisted of a somewhat smaller group of men and women under the leadership of Tore Kloster and Øyvind Sørum, who proudly called themselves Studentkoret under the acronym BAK. In the 2000's, the evolution towards the choir we know today began. Studentkorets mission is "to promote a fondness for singing among students through a good social and musical environment". It is of course a goal to become as great a singer as possible, but in this choir, the social is at least as important as the song! Choir-ale, cabin trips and parties is organized regularly. You fallwithout get the opportunity to attend choir-weekends, both inland and abroad, where you can meet other students choirs.
BLAK accepts regularly new members within all voice-groups and levels of qualification. Member acceptance happen at the start of every semester (in the middle of August and January), after attending the traditional open audition at Det Akademiske Kvarter.
