Studinekoret Sirenene
Studinekoret Sirenene is the official girls students choir at the University of Bergen, and one of the brukerorganisasjoner at Kvarteret.
Sirenene has a broad repertoir that spans from folk song, through jazz tunesm, to pop music, classic and a tad modern. Creative souls in the choir will arrange the songs themselves, which further very much adds to the uniqueness of the repertoir.
The choir was founded in 1997 and has since then focused on keeping a high standard on their musical level. Sirenene has several awards from different national competitions for their musical prowess. Thereof, "Syng for oss" (2006, 2010 and 2020) and from the norwegian national championship for choirs (2012). Some of their achievements have warranted a CD-recording, in the spring of 2008 and autumn of 2013.
During the corona-pandemic, Sirenene worked well and won the "Syng for oss" in 2020 for the second time. Currently, the choir preparing for their 25th anniversary, which will happen 2022.
There is a lot that happens during the course of a semester for Sirenene. Assignments, concerts, trips and social gatherings is regular routine. As a member of Sirenene, you are part of an active network of studentculture, and not least part of a friendgroup! After the monday rehearsals, we share a drink with our brother-choir "Mannskoret Arme Riddere". During the students culture events UKA/UKEN in Trondheim, Ås and Bergen, Sirenene also establish firm bonds with other students choirs in Norway.
